That's why Mike, at 150 lbs soaking wet, is up there. I (270) don't walk on clay tile much but when I do I don't break many tiles because I know how to walk on them. Most people, even many roofers, don't.
You're right, clay tile roofs are harder to work on than concrete tile roofs.

Mix 1 part cement with 3 parts sand and add enough water to form a stiff mortar.Use a small trowel to lay hot-dog'size strips along the line where the old mortar was.Replace the tiles and clean up any mortar poking out with a trowel.Call a professional to make major repairs.

Best bang for the buck is aluminum standing seam metal roof IMO.
